JUST FOR A LAUGH
Poros to Galatas Car Ferries launch new vessel. In light of spiraling fuel costs the PGCF (Poros to Galatas Car Ferries) have introduced a new vessel to replace its' old fleet of fuel thirsty car ferries. This new service came into effect on 1st August 2006. A spokesperson for the company explained that in an effort to stay competitive with the water taxis operating on the same route, we had to devise a cunning plan to stay ahead of the game. This new service is by far the most economic way to cross the narrow waters that separate Galatas and Poros Island. We have had to cut back on the number of crossings per day from 30 to just 2 (1 in the morning & 1 in the evening) as the propulsion systems do get overheated, this is something that our state of the art R&D department are working on. In the mean time any customers are advised to book well in advance as this service is expected to be fully booked for the foreseeable future.
New Beach Parking Scheme For both residents and visitors to the Island of Poros the local council have introduced a new scheme for those that wish to drive to the beach. Director of Public Works said " We here on Poros recognise the importance of providing adequate parking that is both functional and convenient to our public.. " this new scheme is thought to alleviate the congestion caused during the high season months for prime parking spaces close to the beaches and also deter any 'Towel/Space Reservers' that might think of trying to snap up the best sun bathing areas of a beach. It's sure to be a winner.
