| There were twelve Gods of
Olympus, who lived on Mt Olympus, and reigned over Heven and Earth. Listed
below are some of the more interesting ones. |
 |
|
Zeus King of the Gods, the main man! Related
it seems to virtually every other God, married to his sister Hera,
he was continuously unfaithful to her, and had many children by other
Goddess and mortals. |
|
Hera Sister and only lawful wife of Zeus. She
had children with Zeus including Ares and Hebe. She was not happy
with Zeus unfaithfulness, and not surprisingly was very nasty
to his mistresses and their children, seen as a bit of a witch.
Hades - Brother of Zeus, King of the underworld. Not a very popular
God for the people, he has no temples dedicated to him. |

Poseiden Brother of Zeus, King of the Sea, he
lived under the sea. He was married to Amphitrite, and was Father
to among others Pegasus. He was also credited with bringing the first
horse to life. Was responsible for storms, earthquakes, and other
weather phenomenon. |
|
| Aphrodite The most beautiful woman in the world.
Was married to Hephaestus, and had many children (including Eros,
who is commonally depicted as Cupid), by different lovers. She used
her power to make people fall in love for both good and bad. |

|
Apollo Son of Zeus, he was the God of light and
of the Sun, he built a sanctuary at Delphi. He was, it seems an all
round good guy, giving advice, inspiring poetry and music, and healing
the sick. |
|
| Athena She was the Godess of wisdom and skill.
Born from the head of Zeus, she had no mothers care, making her powers
more masculine than feminine. Not only was she not connected to love
and marriage, she stayed a virgin. Athena is symbolized by the olive,
had use of Zeuss armor and had Athens named after her. |
